The Parks and Recreation Department strives to serve the Pocatello community with quality recreation programs, well-maintained Parks, trails, and beautiful open spaces. Our goal is to help provide opportunities, activities and the facilities to bring pleasure to people’s lives. Our Parks serve as a source of great community pride, and we are firm believers in the benefits recreation brings to both the years in one’s life and the life in those years. Often people don’t realize what a vital role Parks and Recreation plays in the quality of their lives. Our aim is to help the community make the connection between vital and happy lifestyles and Parks and Recreation.

Fall 2025

Message from the Mayor

It’s been a busy summer! As we prepare to think about fall and kids going back to school it’s a great time to plan ahead for family activities offered by the Parks & Recreation Department in the coming months including:

  • A variety of youth dance classes ages 2-18 at the Community Recreation Center including ballet, tap, jazz, cheer and more!
  • Our swimming lessons are wildly popular and will have your child’s confidence in the water grow in safe atmosphere.
  • Jr. Jazz basketball offers a great place for your grade schoolers to learn fundamental basketball skills and have a fun time as well.
  • Indoor rock climbing will wear out your kiddos and they’ll sleep great.
  • Bring your family to the Zoo on the weekends before the season ends.

Adult offerings include:

  • Affordable rates are available at the Community Recreation Center, come see our brand new 3,200 square foot weight room or take a swim in the pool.
  • Team sports offers women’s volleyball, flag football, and men’s basketball. There is something for everyone!
  • Outdoor recreation is offering introductory mountain bike classes this Fall as well.

Don’t forget to snag your Nordic Center pass early to save some cash before the snow flies.

As always, I’m proud to be your Mayor!

Brian Blad
Mayor of Pocatello
