During the annual conference of the Idaho Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA ID) the City of Pocatello’s Planning & Development Services Department received the organization’s Gem Award for the Pocatello Comprehensive Plan 2040.
For 2024, the theme for the conference and topic for the Gem Award was “Ida-Home and Grown.” This award celebrates exceptional contributions in community development and local initiatives. It honors innovative practices in enhancing local environments, fostering community engagement, and promoting sustainable growth, highlighting the importance of homegrown solutions.
“The Comprehensive Plan reflects the shared vision and values of Pocatello and its people,” said Jim Anglesey, Pocatello’s Long-Range Senior Planner. “Throughout 2021 and 2022, hundreds of Pocatellans provided guidance and feedback that determined the content of the now-adopted Comprehensive Plan. This plan is a living document and is actively being implemented. We encourage all citizens to collaborate with the Planning Department on the Plan’s implementation.”
