The City of Pocatello invites the public to a ribbon-cutting, open house, and push-in ceremony to celebrate the delivery of the department’s newest apparatus, Truck 1. The event will take place October 29, at 5:15 p.m. at Pocatello Fire Department, Fire Station #1, 408 E. Whitman Street.
This special event honors the arrival of a tractor-drawn aerial truck, a significant addition to the department’s fleet that improves both capability and maneuverability. The evening will include brief remarks, a ribbon-cutting, a traditional push-in ceremony, and an open house for community members to explore the station and see Truck 1 up close.
The push-in ceremony is a time-honored fire service tradition dating back to the days of horse-drawn fire equipment, when firefighters would physically push their apparatus back into the bay. Today, it symbolizes the welcoming of new apparatus into service and the commitment of firefighters to protecting the community.
“This new aerial truck represents a major investment in public safety and emergency response,” said Pocatello Fire Chief Ryan O’Hearn. “We’re excited to show the community what it can do and to carry on a proud fire service tradition with this ceremony.”
The public is encouraged to attend, meet their local firefighters, and help celebrate the future of fire service in Pocatello.
