[ARCHIVED] Agencies to hold Public Meetings on Future of PRT Service

Pocatello Regional Transit (PRT) and Southeast Idaho Council of Governments (SICOG) are asking for the public’s help in determining the future of PRT.

Open house meetings for public input will be held September 16 and October 21 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the SICOG offices located at 214 East Center Street in Pocatello. Currently, PRT is considering reducing the number of local fixed-route services in the Pocatello-Chubbuck area from seven core routes to five.

“PRT serves a wide variety of East Idahoans,” said Dave Hunt, Director of Pocatello Regional Transit. “From veterans to students and the elderly, we need everyone’s input on how best to move forward.”

Following the meetings, officials will take what they’ve heard and use it to develop service revisions and create strategies that will effectively and efficiently provide public transportation services.

“These meetings will help us reduce the gaps in our service and improve the operations of PRT,” Hunt continued. “All of the comments we receive will be taken into consideration before any changes are made to the core routes.”

Officials will also take public comment via email and mail from September 16, 2015 through November 16, 2015. Comments can be sent to prt@pocatello.us or mailed to City of Pocatello Public Transit Department, P.O. Box 4169, Pocatello, ID 83205.

Southeast Idaho Council of Governments’ offices are accessible to persons with disabilities. Interpreters for persons with hearing impairments and/or taped information for persons with visual impairments can be provided upon three (3) days’ notice. For accessibility arrangements, please contact ADA Coordinator Dave Hunt at voice phone 208-234-6248; fax 208-233-5149; e-mail dhunt@pocatello.us; mailing address P. O. Box 4169, Pocatello, ID 83205-4169; or physical address 5815 South 5th Avenue, Pocatello, ID.
