Spring is here, which means the City of Pocatello Yard Waste Collection Program will begin.
Starting Tuesday, April 1, Pocatello residents signed up for the yard waste program can place grass clippings, leaves, and garden trimmings in their designated autocart for pick up. No other material will be accepted. Yard waste autocarts are picked up on the regular trash pick-up day. The program will run through November 30.
“Yard waste is another form of recycling that can be transformed and used as compost,” said Tom Kirkman, Director of Public Services.
Starting with 500 customers in April 2013, this optional program has expanded to 1,925 customers, with more yard waste carts being delivered every day. To sign-up for the Yard Waste Collection Program, contact the Sanitation Department at 208-234-6192. The current cost is $6.07 per month, billed to your City of Pocatello utility bill.
Compost generated from the program is available for purchase at the Bannock County Landfill Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
