An Icelandic tradition dating back to World War II, Jolabokaflod centers around people exchanging books on Christmas Eve and then cozying up at home to read into the night. Literally translated, Jolabokaflod means Christmastime flood of books, so the library is marking the festivities with a giveaway of the classic Christmas tale The Night Before Christmas.
Financial support from the Friends of Marshall Public Library and the Pocatello Rotary Club, MPL was able to purchase 200 copies of this beautifully illustrated hardback edition. Copies will be available for library card holders to pick up starting Monday, December 2.
Jolabokalfod will last until all 200 copies have been given away. There is a limit of one book per household and you must have a library card with MPL to receive a copy. E-book and e-audiobook copies of the same edition will also be available for MPL card holders. If you have any questions or would like to know more about this program, please contact Public Services Supervisor Amy Campbell at 208-232-1263 ext. 105.
