Over the Fourth of July holiday, the Pocatello Police and Fire Department will have extra patrol on duty working together to enforce the City’s ordinances when it comes to fireworks.
People in possession of illegal fireworks will be cited and the illegal fireworks will be confiscated per Pocatello Code 15.10.130 (Violation; Seizure of Fireworks).
Firework stands open Friday, June 28, 2024, at noon and close Thursday, July 4 at midnight. Per code 15.10.110 (Dates for Discharge of Fireworks) fireworks shall be restricted to June 28 through July 6 of any year.
“Over the past few years, we have had some close calls with fires started by fireworks. The hot and dry conditions we are seeing lead to increased fire dangers and we want everyone to have a safe holiday,” said Pocatello Fire Chief Ryan O’hearn.
Only use the Safe and Sane fireworks sold in the City of Pocatello and only in approved areas. You can view the map on the City of Pocatello’s website. No fireworks of any kind are allowed in the yellow and red areas.
