Planning Staff

Planning staff is charged with overseeing the orderly growth and development of Pocatello. Some of their principal functions include:

• Collection of data and the presentation of reports or studies pertinent to a multitude of land use activities.
• Preparation and administration of the City's Comprehensive Plan and related Land Use Ordinances (e.g., the Zoning, Sign, and Subdivision Ordinances).
• Support and coordination with the following organizations for the betterment of the community:

  • Hearing Examiner (HE)
  • Historic Downtown Pocatello (HDP)
  • Historic Preservation Commission (HPC)
  • Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC)
  • Pocatello City Council
  • Pocatello Development Authority (PDA)
  • Portneuf Greenway Foundation (PGF)
  • Portneuf Valley Development Corporation (PVDC)
  • Portneuf Valley Partners
  • Site Plan Review Committee (SPRC)
  • Southeast Idaho Council of Governments (SICOG)
• Enforcement of all codes related to land use and signage in Pocatello.
• Special projects as assigned by the Mayor or City Council.
