Pocatello Garbage Collection Schedule
Garbage carts are collected curbside once a week. Recycling carts are collected on the same day, every other week, as specified by the Curbside Recycling Schedule.

2023 Important Dates
The Sanitation Department will be on regular collection schedule for all holidays with the exception of Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.

| Yard Waste Collection | April 3 - November 25 | Yard waste carts will be collected curbside weekly on the same day as regular residential garbage collection day. |
| Leaf Pickup | October 30–November 25 | Leaves will be collected curbside in brown, paper compostable bags only. Place bagged leaves on the curb on regular residential garbage collection day by 7:00 a.m. to ensure collection. |
| Thanksgiving Day | November 23 (landfill closed) | Regular collection Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. One day collection delay Thursday and Friday. Thursday collection will be on Friday and Friday collection on Saturday. |
| Christmas Day | December 25 (landfill closed) | One day collection delay Monday through Friday the week of December 25. Monday collection will be on Tuesday, Tuesday on Wednesday, Wednesday on Thursday, Thursday on Friday, and Friday on Saturday. |
| Christmas Overflow | December 26–30 | Overflow items that are in bags or boxes placed near garbage carts will be collected on regular residential collection day. These items will be put into the landfill and will not be recycled. CHRISTMAS TREES WILL NOT BE COLLECTED CURBSIDE. |

| New Year's Day 2024 | January 1, 2024 (landfill closed) | One day collection delay Monday through Friday the week of January 1, 2024. Monday collection will be on Tuesday, Tuesday on Wednesday, Wednesday on Thursday, Thursday on Friday, and Friday on Saturday. |
*Trees will be chipped and used for ground cover or other projects throughout the year—not placed in the landfill. Please make sure no wires or strings are attached to trees placed in the bins to avoid damage to the chipper. Christmas trees will NOT be collected curbside. Christmas tree recycling is offered through a partnership between the City of Pocatello Sanitation Department and the City of Pocatello Parks and Recreation Department.
