With the continued encouragement and support of the Mayor and City Council, the City of Pocatello Water Department is proud to hold its 31st Annual Open House in celebration of National Drinking Water Week, from May 5 through May 8, 2025. The event will be held at the Water Operations Facility located at 1889 North Arthur Avenue. Open house hours are Monday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Wednesday - Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The open house is designed primarily to educate youth about the importance of water conservation, water quality, and environmental stewardship, though it provides valuable insights for people of all ages. This longstanding event has proven to be a meaningful and lasting educational experience for the community.
Interactive displays and demonstrations will highlight key themes, including water quality, aquifer protection, water conservation, stormwater management, wastewater treatment, and reuse and recycling.
Water Department staff will be joined by representatives from City departments, including Water Pollution Control, Sanitation, and Science & Environmental, plus the Bannock County Landfill, all working together to promote environmental education and awareness.
Over the past 31 years, approximately 62,900 children and adults have attended the open house. The program has earned multiple honors, including the American Water Works Association Pacific Northwest “Water Education” award and the 2008 Association of Idaho Cities City Achievement Award.
