Attention all swimmers and aquacisers! Exciting changes are coming to the Community Recreation Center. On Thursday, November 14, and Friday, November 15, workers will be performing crucial boiler repairs and replacing the pool heat exchanger.
While these repairs are taking place, the pool will remain open for those brave enough to take a cold plunge and swim in the cooler water. Aquacise and swim lessons will be canceled on both days, however. We know this may cause some inconvenience, but we believe it’s worth it to bring everyone who uses the facility years of comfort and enjoyment.
This project is all part of the City’s commitment to providing our community with the best possible experience. The ten-year-old boiler was having pressure issues leading to boiler outages. While repairing the boiler, maintenance employees discovered the pool’s heat exchanger, installed in 1983, was failing and contributing to the boiler tube degeneration. The pool should be up to temperature by Saturday morning, and the building’s water temperature should return almost immediately.
If you have any questions or concerns about these repairs, please call the Community Recreation Center at 208-232-3901 x 2200 or visit pocatello.gov/Community-Recreation-Center for more information on all our amazing amenities.
The Community Recreation Center is accessible to persons with disabilities. Program access accommodations may be provided with two (2) days’ advance notice by contacting Skyler Beebe at sbeebe@pocatello.gov; 208.234.6248; or 5815 South 5th Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho.
