Pocatello Regional Airport will conduct its triennial live emergency exercise, as required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Wednesday, September 17, from approximately 9 a.m. to noon.
This full-scale drill is designed to test the communication, coordination, and response procedures of airport personnel, local first responders, and regional mutual aid partners. Crews will respond to a simulated aircraft incident, complete with volunteer role-players acting as injured passengers to enhance the realism of the exercise.
Participants, including local ambulances, fire crews, law enforcement, and even air medical responders, will transport volunteers to Portneuf Medical Center, allowing the hospital to test its internal emergency response capabilities as well.
Residents and visitors should expect to see emergency lights, sirens, and increased activity in and around the airport during the drill.
Please note:
All airport operations and scheduled commercial flights will continue as normal throughout the exercise. For more information, please contact Pocatello Regional Airport at 208-234-6154.
