Construction is moving swiftly at Optimist Skate Park, located at 972 N. 7th Avenue, where contractors from Pillar Design Studios/Artisan Skateparks are nearing completion of the concrete phase. The new 7,000–8,000 square foot skatepark is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the community, but the Pocatello Parks & Recreation Department is urging residents to stay out of the area until construction is fully complete.
While it may be tempting to try out the new park, several key elements still need to be installed, including:
• Irrigation system
• Grass and landscaping
• Stormwater retention system
• Final signage
• Extensive painting and finishing work
A grand opening date will be announced in the coming weeks.
“We are just as excited as many of our patrons to see this park opened,” said Anne Butler, Parks & Recreation Director. “But please give us the space needed to complete the park correctly. For everyone’s safety, it’s imperative that the public stay out of the skatepark until we officially announce its opening.”
