With Pocatello City Council Member Josh Mansfield’s resignation, City Council Seat #4 will be vacant beginning May 1, 2025. Pocatello Mayor Brian Blad is now accepting applications for the vacancy.
The individual selected and confirmed would fulfill the remainder of Seat #4’s term, which would be from appointment to January 8, 2026. To remain in the seat after January 8, 2026, the individual would need to win the November 2025 election, as Seat #4 is up for election this year.
Those interested in serving may submit applications for the Mayor’s consideration. Following the selection process, the proposed appointee will be confirmed by the City Council.
Applications must be received at the Mayor’s Office by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, no exceptions. Per Idaho law, interested individuals must be registered voters of the city of Pocatello and be at least 18 years of age.
Applicants are asked to submit only the following items:
1. A resume no more than two pages in length
2. Answers to the following questions, with each answer limited to 150 words
a. Why are you interested in serving as a City Council Member?
b. In your opinion, what is the major issue facing Pocatello?
c. How would you address the issue you just described?
