    This holiday season, the Pocatello Animal Shelter invites pet owners to capture the magic of the season with a special photo event featuring the Grinch and Cindy Lou Who Saturday, December 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For a $10 donation, attendees can get a digital photo of their pets alongside classic holiday characters from Whoville. All the proceeds go to support the shelter's mission, to provide care and find loving homes for animals in need. The Pocatello Animal Shelter is located at 3100 Avenue of the Chiefs in Pocatello.

  1. Junior Jazz Basketball Registration (Boys)

    The Junior Jazz Program is open to all 3rd-8th Grade Girls and Boys in School District 25. Teams are organized by grade level and coached by volunteer coaches. Volunteers are needed to help this program run smoothly. Anyone contemplating coaching should contact the Parks and Recreation Office early so they can get organized. Games will be played at the four Pocatello Middle Schools on Saturdays in November and December (GIRLS) and February and March (BOYS). Games begin at 8:30am and may continue until 5pm. Player registration fee covers the cost of the jersey. Team pictures are an optional purchase during the season. All practice times in School District facilities are reserved by our department.

  2. Adult Coed Volleyball Registration

    The Adult Coed Volleyball League may begin play January 10, 2024. Competitive and Recreational leagues will be o? ered. Both leagues may play Monday through Thursday schedules. Both leagues will play at Irving Middle School, 911 N. Grant. Matches will be played at 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30. Rosters will not be accepted without team fee being paid and waiver signed by at least six players. Up to ten players will be allowed on roster for team fee price.

  3. Kids' Basketball D-League (Girls) Registration

    This is a competitive basketball league divided into two divisions for girls: 5th/6th and 7th/8th grades and four divisions for boys: 5th-8th grades. Boys’ 5th-8th grades will play in November and December. Girls’ 5th/6th and 7th/8th grades will play in February and March. Coaches put their own teams together. All practice times in School District #25 facilities are reserved by our department.

  4. Holiday Hoopla Free Throw Contest

    Holiday Hoopla is a timed free throw shooting contest. Participants will have one minute to make as many free throws as possible. There are separate divisions for boys and girls. The first place finishers in each division will receive a prize. All proceeds will be donated to the Idaho Food Bank. Registration forms will be available at Dick’s Sporting Goods, 1844 Hurley Dr. the day of the event.

    Test your science knowledge while also participating in an engineering challenge. Prizes will be awarded for the Best Team Name, Trivia Winner, and Challenge Winner. Participate in 15 science trivia questions while building a 5th–8th grade level science engineering challenge. All materials are provided for the challenge. Trivia is created every week by zoo staff. All proceeds go towards our zoo education programs.
